Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has hinted the band might reunite for shows benefiting various charities in the near future. The last time they all performed was in 2005 for Live 8 in London.

Mason was speaking at the In The City music conference in Manchester where he said the band could do “something that’s not necessarily for us, but do something for the right reasons and enjoy doing it. That’s what I’d like, and I think the others might well see eye to eye.”

Members David Gilmour and Roger Waters, who notoriously had a falling out in the ’80s, recently performed together this past July for the Hoping Foundation, which helps Palestinian children. With the latter currently on tour playing the band’s 1979 album The Wall in its entirety, Gilmour will be making a surprise appearance during one of the shows.

According to Mason, things like charity events are just the sort of thing that will bring the band together. “I think it would be a very nice way for a band to gently move towards retirement, by doing shows absolutely for charity rather than for more income.” [BBC]
