According to the band’s official website, R.E.M. have finished recording their as-yet-untitled forthcoming album following 2008’s Accelerate. This will be the heavily influential alternative rock group’s 15th studio album.

Like their last release the band has again recorded with producer Jacknife Lee, who has previously worked with U2 and Snow Patrol, and the Athens, Georgia trio used the Music Shed in New Orleans as well as Berlin’s Hansa Studios. Recording was completed in Nashville.

While no official release date has been set, the band are hoping to put out the new disc in the spring of next year. Last year the band released a live album called Live at the Olympia, which was recorded during their five-night residency at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre.
