This morning's new music news; Weezer have unveiled the cover for their upcoming album 'Hurley,' The New Pornographers will be touring for the rest of the year and Van Halen are currently in the studio recording a new album that's expected to come out sometime next year.

If you haven’t heard and in case you’re wondering what the hell that picture of Jorge Garcia, the actor who plays one of the characters in the TV show Lost, is doing atop this post it’s the cover for the new Weezer album Hurley. Yesterday we posted about the band releasing the first track off the disc, due out September 14, called “Memories.” [Prefix]

The New Pornographers will be touring for the remainder of the year with dates both in North America and overseas in support of their latest album Together. From now till December, the only remaining Canadian shows are in Kingston on August 29 and in Halifax on October 20. [New Pornographers MySpace]

And according to a recent release regarding an extension between publisher Warner/Chappell and Eddie and Alex Van Halen, the band (Van Halen) “is currently in the studio recording an album with (David Lee) Roth that is due for release in 2011.” If released this will be the first album since 1998’s Van Halen III.
