This morning's new music news; The Thermals will tour North America this Fall in support of their upcoming album 'Personal Life,' M.I.A. has pledged to play a free show after last weekend's set was cut short due to lightening and Chromeo kicked off their summer tour with a gig in Washington D.C. Monday night.

The Thermals have announced a states heavy North American tour for the fall in support of their forthcoming album Personal Life due out September 7. Their only scheduled Canadian date will be in Toronto on October 9 at Lee’s Palace when they’ll be sharing the bill with Cymbals Eat Guitars. [Pitchfork]

M.I.A. has ensured that she will play a free show in New York City for fans who attended her gig on Governors Island last Saturday, which was cut short due to lightening. “Fuck it! im gonna do a free show in nyc when i get back, tho i dont have powers over rain!,” she said on her Twitter page. “If u still have the hard ticket u free! xxxo.” [NME]

And Chromeo kicked off their summer tour Monday night with a gig at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 club where fans were treated to a couple new songs off their upcoming album Business Casual.
