This morning's new music news; Liam Gallagher has called his new band "proper rock 'n' roll" and claims they will be bigger than Oasis, Tom Jones and The Killers have discussed a possible collaboration and Kings of Leon have committed to playing new material on their current tour despite objections from their label and management.

In a recent interview with the Sunday Times Liam Gallagher has said his new band Beady Eye have a Beatles-esque sound that’s similar to his previous band and he believes they’ll be bigger than Oasis. “It’s proper rock’n’roll,” he said. “Oasis was a pop band compared to what we’re doing.” A single is expected sometime before the year is out with the album to follow next year. Tom Jones has revealed a potential collaboration with The Killers is in the works with both band and singer awaiting on a song they’re happy with. “I’ve spoken to Brandon Flowers ,” Jones said in an interview with NME. “He said he admired what I’d done in my career. Theres a connection there because he’s from Las Vegas and of course I’ve performed there so many times over the years. The material has to be right. That’s always been my main concern, with whichever people I’ve worked with.” [NME]

And Kings of Leon have vowed to continue playing new material on their current tour, despite pleas from their record labels and management to wait until their as-yet-untitled fifth album is released. “If we were to go out there and play a concert and not play new music, it would feel like we had our hands tied, and I think we would be bored with the show,” Caleb Followill told Billboard. “We didn’t want to go back out there and give ’em the ‘Only By the Night’ tour, part two. It’s inspiring to be able to go out there and play new songs.” [Billboard]
