AUX weekly had a chance to chat with Carl Newman and Kathyrn Calder from the New Pornographers about their latest record Together. This is the band’s fifth studio album and from the early beginnings Newman says the band didn’t expect to make as make records as they have. “We had no delusions of becoming popular,” he said. “We didn’t even know we would make two records.”

Together has received many positive reviews and has been heralded as one of the best albums the band has made as a whole. The members attribute most of their success to staying the course and being patient when it comes to discovering their unique sound. “We’ve definitely been like the tortoise…just like slow and steady,” Newman said. “Other bands have become far more popular than us, but just kind of flashed out. We’re still moving on.”
