As reported in Rolling Stone, a recent picture of surviving members Ric Ocasek, Greg Hawkes, David Robinson and guitarist Elliot Easton from the Cars in a studio with their equipment was posted on the band’s Facebook page in what seems to be a hint of a possible reunion.

In an interview with the Boston Globe, keyboardist Greg Hawkes couldn’t confirm a potential reunion, but didn’t deny it. “I hate to be vague, but I really can’t say,” he said. “It’s a crazy world.”

The band originally formed in Boston and were signed by Elecktra Records when the New Wave music scene was gaining in popularity. They split in 1988 and rumors of a potential reunion were squashed when founding bassist Benjamin Orr died in 2000 of pancreatic cancer. Hawkes and Easton reformed the band with Todd Rundgren in 2005, but disbanded a few years later.
