With Summer season well underway, music festivals are sweeping up this fine country. In search of festival experiences beyond the usual city centres, i’m making the intrepid journey across Canada towards more, er, exotic ones. Yukon seems like a good place to start. Dawson City, the Klondike Goldrush capital, hosts the stellar 3-day DawsonCity Music Festival that begins in just a few short days.

Dawson’s year-round population, which hovers around 2,000, swells each Summer with various transients and seasonal miscreants as the town attracts a bulk of its 60,000 annual visitors. Buoyed by the region’s illustrious midnight sun, the DCMF10 line-up, which includes Constantines, Elliott Brood, Good Lovelies, tUnE-yArDs, Coolooloosh, Polaris short-listed Dan Mangan and more, will set the weekend on fire for DC’s saloon denizens, casino pirates and gold-panning hooligans.
