DCMF kicked off on glorious grounds first settled by the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. Literally by the Klondike River, deep crooner & loop pedal guy Pat Lepoidevin opened the afternoon at the Gazebo. The gals from Good Lovelies almost started a panty-flash hoedown, but reined in everyone with their spellbinding 3-part harmonic bliss. Dan Mangan charmed the sun-loving crowd & inavertently became a lost toy bunny retrieval depot. Elliott Brood stirred things up just before it was time to head over to the Mainstage.

Over there, Bette & Wallet were slashing through traditional celtic fiddle fare on electric guitar & stompin’ footwork (perhaps only last seen at Calgary Stampede). D Rangers whipped people’s hands in the air with rippin’ bluegrass (oh, the gorgeous sound of electric saw). Tel Aviv funk machine, Cooloolosh – whose 6 members have no doubt garnered shitloads of travel miles between them for taking 5 flights within 2 days to reach Dawson – got the audience on their feet while JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound turned up the heat with hot Windy City soul. Constantines spit out some tough rock and brought kids to their knees just as the murky 1am sunlight settled a little bit more.
