Since the World Cup in South Africa kicked off earlier this month a few things have become abundantly clear. England’s national soccer team played terrible, the US showed promise, but failed and Brazil will probably end up winning the tourney, again. Oh and to watch a soccer match means sitting through 90 minutes of bee hive-like sounds. The vuvuzela, a horn roughly 65 cm in length are traditionally used at South African soccer games and have subsequently become loathed by fans across the globe whose cheers and songs in support of their national side are drowned out by the hive.

But that’s not the case for the upcoming T in the Park music festival in Scotland where the plastic horn has already been banned by organizers. The festival is taking place at a former airfield in Balado in Perth and Kinross where 85,000 people are expected to turn up.

A spokesperson from DF Concerts, who are organizing the gig said, “As T in the Park is a music festival and whilst there is always a fantastic party atmosphere we have also got to respect the artists and the thousands of fans who want to hear their music without being disturbed by noises such as vuvuzelas in the crowd.” [BBC]

Artist appearing at the festival include Eminem, Muse, Jay-Z, The Prodigy, Mumford & Sons, Hot Chip, La Roux, Billy Talent, Vampire Weekend, The Proclaimers, Julian Casablancas, Kele and Drake among others. For the full lineup visit the official T in the Park website.
