This morning's new music news; Iconic photographer Brian Duffy has died, Richard Ashcroft will release a new album under the name United Nations of Sound and Interpol have given details of their new bassist and forthcoming album.

Photographer Brian Duffy, who was famously known for taking the photo of David Bowie for his Aladdin Sane album cover, has died. He shot two other Bowie album covers and also captured memorable photos of musicians and models throughout the ’60s and ’70s. His career was documented in a feature by the BBC called the man who shot the 60s. He had been suffering from lung disease. He was 76. [Guardian]

Richard Ashcroft will release a new album under the name United Nations of Sound. Recorded in Los Angeles, New York and London, the former Verve frontman’s disc was produced by No ID, who previously worked with Jay-Z. It will be released on July 20. [NME]

And Interpol have replaced bassist Carlos D and have announced some details for their forthcoming album. The new record will be self-titled and it is expected to arrive sometime mid-September and David Pajo is the band’s new bassist. Pajo spent the last year touring with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as a multi-instrumentalist. [Pitchfork]
