Earlier this week we wrote about the possibility of a secret Strokes gig at a venue called Dingwalls in Camden, London with the band temporarily changing their name to Venison. The hints proved to be geniune as The Strokes played their first gig in four years in preparation for their upcoming spot at the Isle of Wight Festival last night.

According to NME, the band played an 18-song set of tunes from their last three albums, kicking off the evening with “New York City Cops,” from their debut Is This It. The also played songs “The Modern Age,” “Hard to Explain,” “You Only Live Once” and “Reptilia.” (See amateur video below to prove we’re not full of it) They finished the set with “Last Night.”

The Strokes have reportedly been working on material for a new album, but stuck with the classics for yesterday’s sold-out gig. That new disc is expected sometime later this year, but in the meantime the band have a few dates this summer in Europe and North America including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Festival. Their last album, First Impressions of Earth came out in 2006.
