Tanisha’s Vans Warped Tour Picks: Alesana

Alesana, pronounced Alice-Anna,  a screamo/post-hardcore band coming from North Carolina is my band of the week.  Alesana has strong vocals accompanied by expertly timed bellows, which makes the perfect mix for this writers ears.  I feel that their music delivers everything that a band in this genre should;  rocking guitar riffs, the range of vocals, interesting tempo changes, and lyrics that are awesome and tell a story [ though you may have to google them :P]

Signed to Fearless Records they released their third album early this year, and it was well received.  Similar to the last albums there is still the amazing mix, but this album seems more completed, as in there seems to be a flow throughout the album that I feel was missing from some of the previous.  There has been some member changes over the years, but I feel they have finally figured out who they want to be. Pat, Shane, Dennis, Shawn, Jeremy and Jake obviously have the chemistry needed to stay in this industry.  Alesana is one of those bands that many different people can appreciate, or people like me who switch their tastes in music like T-shirts,  this band will keep you interested.

I caught Alesana at warped tour a few years ago, for those of you who think they may be a little ballady, or not hard enough, I challenge you to check out their set.  These boys rock out harder than most! Their stage presence is a totally different experience than listening to their cd because their energy just comes through everything.  The screaming is amazing, the guitars pick up lives of their own, and don’t even get me started on the drummer.. I don’t know how his kit survives.  So check them out this year, you will not be disappointed!
