Parlovr China Tour Vlog 2

Montreal's Parlovr are on a ten day tour of China with friends DD/MM/YYYY, Ohbijou Racoons and Ill Scarlett. Check out the first of their tour vlogs exclusively on AUX.
After running around the hills of Hong Kong, Louis and I went to The Cavern to catch DD/MM/YY on the harbourfront. It was packed with foreigners and loaded with liquor. We had an early wake up call the next morning to take a train to Guangzhou, where we played with all the other TransmitChina bands (The Racoons, Wil, Oh Bijou, Flash Lightnin and IllScarlett) at a large government hall. The place was huge with all these banners and tall ceilings. Like an airplane hangar. There were a lot of models doing photoshoots all around the venue, which we later learned is pretty commonplace in ‘youth’ scenes.
There was near-monsoon weather going on, with torrential downpours of rain and strong winds. It didn’t deter a strong crowd who kept packed at the front of the stage. My keyboard died midway through our set due to a short circuit, but we blew through some raucous guitar songs and made do. I opened up the keyboard to try to solve the problem only to find a piece of Jeremy’s hi-hat that had been chipped off in a previous show. Lots of enthusiastic girls were eager to take photos after the show.
Marcel , or ‘Max’, one of the two soundguys for the tour who comes from Quebec, thankfully helped me the next day by finding an electrician who could repair it. It was pretty unbelievable how quickly it got fixed.
There’s little more I can say other than that China is pretty fucking mind-blowing. It’s also hard to keep up with this blog since there’s limited access to sites and all the traveling we’re doing….
