Starting out in Vancouver as a duo consisting of Stephen Ramsey and Catherine McCandless, Young Galaxy migrated east, added two other members and released their self-titled debut in 2007. The band’s dream pop sound has been compared to the likes of Galaxy 500, Spirtualized and Pink Floyd, although the latter is a bit of stretch.

The track “Destroyer” off their latest album Invisible Republic, released last year, was voted the best song of the year on Iheartmusic and the album itself was produced by Besnard Lakes frontman Jace Lasek. At times the sound on the album is quite bombastic. Whether they have Lasek to thank for that or not, they’re still a band on the cusp of breaking and a third album that is currently being recorded just might do it.
