Bassist Chris Slorach from Toronto based band METZ, which is actually a city in the northeast of France, first met the other two members Alex Edkins and Hayden Menzies while he was managing The Constantines as well as playing in a couple other bands around the city. Edkins and Menzies moved from Ottawa and recruited Slorach into their band METZ.

Inspired by early ‘90s acts under labels such as Touch and Go and Sub Pop like The Melvins and Jesus Lizard, the band’s sound is filled with heavy guitars and distorted lyrics. They’ve released two 7” records with a third expected sometime soon. Touted as one of the city’s loudest bands still playing and making music, these guys deliver a massive wall of droning that should leave your ears ringing for days.

The NXNE word of the day is “METZ”. Enter here to win a $50 iTunes gift card or NXNE festival wristbands.
