This past weekend Rage Against The Machine played a free gig at London’s Finsbury Park as a thank-you to fans for making their single “Killing In The Name” the top spot on the U.K. Charts. In an interview with NME after the performance singer Zach de la Rocha spoke about the possibility of the band recording another album, which would be their first since Renegades was released in 2000.

“I think it’s a genuine possibility,” he said. “We have to get our heads around what we’re going to do towards the end of the year and finish up on some other projects and we’ll take it from there.” [NME]

The band split shortly before their last album came out with de la Rocha pursuing his own solo career and the rest of the group joining former Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell to form Audioslave. In 2007 the band re-united for a gig at Coachella and have continued to perform live since then.

De la Rocha has recently been in the news for spearheading the boycott of the state of Arizona over its recent passing of the immigration law SB1070. Other musicians such as Cypress Hill, Conor Oberst, Serj Tankian, Rise Against, Sonic Youth, Tenacious D, Spank Rock, Massive Attack and filmmaker Michael Moore have all joined the campaign.
