Last year Scottish pop band The Vaselines released a compilation album entitled Enter The Vaselines that contained every song the band recorded along with live performances. Now the duo consisting of Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee have announced they will release a new album, their first in 20 years.

Although the band have been around since the late ’80s, this will only be their second studio album following Dum-Dum, released in 1990. The new disc is called Sex with an X and will be released on Sub Pop on September 14. According to the press release the album was recorded “the old fashioned way: twelve songs in thirteen days.” The 12 tracks on the album were recorded outside Manchester at the Analogue Catalogue studio in Mossley with producer Jamie Watson, who worked with them on their first release.

The band will be touring the UK in support of the album, but no North American dates have been announced yet. The first single off Sex with an X called “I Hate the 80s” has been released as a free download. Check it out below.
