On Saturday The National played a benefit show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for the Red Hot Organization, an AIDS charity. D.A. Pennebaker, known for his Bob Dylan and David Bowie doc’s, directed the event that was broadcast live on Youtube and is currently available for viewing.

In the video below, the band performs the track “England” off the recently released High Violet, their fifth studio album. Dedicating the song to their fans watching in England at an extremely late hour, lead singer Matt Berninger jokes, “we’re here with you, have solace….losers.”

Touring all summer, the band will play two shows at Toronto’s Massey Hall as well as gigs in Montreal at Osheaga and in Vancouver later in September.

Canadian Tour Dates:

June 8 – Massey Hall – Toronto

June 9 – Massey Hall – Toronto

July 31 – Osheaga – Montreal

September 10 – Malkin Bowl – Vancouver
