This morning's new music news; The White Stripes will auction off a custom-made marimba for charity, Ryan Adams has released his first sci-fi metal concept album and the DVD release for Animal Collective's visual record has been pushed back.

The White Stripes will auction off a custom-made red and white marimba for charity. Created for the tour of their fifth album Get Behind Me Satan, it was used until Jack White flipped it over onstage in Osaka, Japan in 2006 and has since been kept in its case. Funds from the sale of the marimba will go to those affected by the recent floods in Nashville. Bidding for the instrument on Ebay.com ends May 24. [NME]

Ryan Adams has released his ‘first fully-realized sci-fi metal concept album.’ Recorded in 2006 the album is called ORION and is only available on vinyl and digital download. It can be purchased through his website and comes with a download card and poster. [Ryan Adams]

And the DVD release date for Animal Collective’s visual record/movie with collaborator Danny Perez has been pushed back. Entitled ODDSAC , Exclaim! has learned through an email from the band’s publicists the new release date is July 27. [Exclaim!]
