This morning's new music news; The former London home of Jimi Hendrix will be open to the public as part of the 40th anniversary of his death, Joy Division fans will be treated to a tour of the band's hometown of Macclesfield and Terrence Howard might portray Marvin Gaye in the Cameron Crowe-directed biopic.

The former London home of Jimi Hendrix at the Mayfair Flat will open up to the public in celebration of the 40th anniversary of his death. The house Hendrix moved into had been previously owned by composer George Handel until 1759. Part of an exhibition called Hendrix in Britain the house will be on display between September 15 – 26. Fans of Joy Division and the late singer Ian Curtis will be treated to a first hand look at where the band rose to prominence with a guided walking tour of their hometown of Macclesfield, England. Starting July 27, the tour will visit various places including 77 Barton St., where Curtis penned many Joy Division songs and eventually took his own life. The walk will also visit the first pubs the band played at such as the Krumbles nightclub. [Exclaim!]

And Terrence Howard might play Marvin Gaye in Cameron Crowe’s upcoming biopic about the R&B/Soul recording artist. Apparently Crowe has been working on the film for the past three years and Will Smith has already turned down an offer to play Gaye. Nothing has been singed on paper, but Crowe and Howard have been in talks about the role. [FirstShowing]
