This morning's new music news; Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to start work on their tenth studio album, Dalmon Albarn says Blur would like to release more singles and Broken Social Scene have added more dates to their North American tour.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to start work on what would be their tenth studio album, according to drummer Chad Smith. “Since last October we’ve been working on things, and probably in a few weeks we’ll be going into the studio with Rick Rubin,” Smith said in an interview with MusicRadar. “Pre-production will take a few months, but I’d say by July we’ll be laying down real tracks. We have a lot of material, probably about 20 songs.” This will be the band’s first album with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. [MusicRadar]

Blur frontman Damon Albarn has said he would like to release more one-off singles like “Fools Day,” the band’s first recorded song since 2003, released for the just past Record Store Day celebrations. “We can’t do it all the time,” Albarn said. “So I don’t want anyone to think there’s an album coming soon, it’s not possible, but we’ve got songs!” [NME]

And Broken Social Scene, who recently released Forgiveness Rock Record have extended their North American tour for the Fall. They’ll be playing in Toronto on June 19 and in October they’ll play shows in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Victora and Vancouver. Check the official website for all the details.
