One of the buzz bands to come out of this year’s SXSW, the striking quartet that makes up Los Angeles’ Warpaint have successfully created a sound both intimate and attention-grabbing, showcasing the haunting vocals of Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman as well as instrumental talent of Jenny Lee Lindberg and Stella Mozgawa.  Reminiscent of Cat Power or The xx, the group’s minimalist qualities truly the capture the notion that “less is more”, allowing their understated nature to stand apart from other acts whose intensity works only to intimidate.

Signed to both Rough Trade and Manimal Vinyl, the four-piece is already making its mark on 2010, having released their debut EP, Exquisite Corpse to acclaim in November of 2009, and booking countless dates across Europe and North America – including a stop at Lollapalooza – throughout the year.
