A couple days ago the New York Times published a profile piece about M.I.A. Written by Lynn Hirschberg, the lengthy report follows the singer/rapper during the making of her new album / \ / \ / \ Y / \. Throughout the piece Hirschberg highlights some points about M.I.A. that weren’t complimentary with accompanying quotes by Diplo, “Born Free” director Romain Gavras and the rapper herself that were deemed “un-flattering.”
It turns out M.I.A. was none happy with the piece and posted a message on her twitter account saying, “CALL ME IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME ABOUT THE N Y T TRUTH ISSUE, ill b taking calls all day bitches ;).” A phone number was also posted which, according to Pitchfork, has turned out to be Hirschberg’s and her voicemail is now full.
