Library Voices Lose Everything In Flood, Tour Continues

Regina pop band Library Voices have suffered a setback as their studio/rehearsal space has been destroyed in a flood of biblical proportions. The band recently released their debut full length album called Denim on Denim last month and three weeks after its release the flood hit.

The band used the basement of the Regina Cultural Exchange, a provincial, non-profit arts organization and building. According to the plumbing firm responsible for repairs, 598,000 gallons of water filled the space and destroyed everything the band hand. It is believed the water came from a busted main and it reached 8ft deep across the basement.

All of the band’s equipment and personal belongings were destroyed except for a saxophone and Moog synth that managed to float to safety. Several thousand dollars worth of rented equipment also perished, which is not being covered despite purchasing rental insurance.

Members of the city’s music community have been working constantly with the band to haul out the wreckage to try and restore and venue. The Cultural Exchange is one of Canada’s longest running all ages venues. “In the name of rock ‘n’ roll,” the band has said they will borrow, rent and extend their lines of credit so their scheduled upcoming tour of the county will go on as planned.
