“So while the Diddys, Gagas & BlackEyedPeas of the world might not say a thing, & even though I’m suppose 2 have a lot 2 lose, I cnt B quiet,” K’naan said on his twitter page, after tweeting “There is an intrinsic difference between entertainers & artists. Artists endure the pain of the world, entertainers dance around it.”

Earlier K’naan tweeted “My heart is pained for the loss of civilian lives aboard an Aid ship to Gaza. And Israel, you are WRONG for this.” Since messages go directly to his facebook page as well, his public outcry has caused his page to become a heated venue with fans attacking each other and K’naan on the issue.  K’naan recently collaborated with Black Eyed Pea, Will.i.am and David Guetta on a version of Wavin’ Flag.

The Somalia-born rapper who grew up in Canada is currently in South Africa for the upcoming World Cup where his song “Wavin’ Flag” has been chosen as the anthem. He’ll be performing at various Coca-Cola sponsored events during the tournament. The track has become a number one hit in China, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg.
