After a solid month of touring through Europe earlier this year, Quebec grindcore band Fuck The Facts are heading back to the road for more than two weeks worth of shows through the United States before they prepare to assault Canadian audiences in June. Included in their upcoming American touring plans is a late-May date at the Maryland Deathfest Festival alongside Entombed, Obituary and Pestilence.

Formed at the turn of the century, Fuck The Facts has a remarkable eight releases to their credit thus far, with their most recent offerings being an unnamed six-track 7 inch single as well as a new DVD.

Their 7 inch single offers fans four new songs as well as re-recordings of two older tracks and ended up being a recording trial for the band as much as it was a desire to get some new songs out to the masses.

“We hadn’t recorded anything in about a year and a half and for us, that’s a long time,” bassist Marc Bourgon begins. “We also planned to track our next full length album ourselves, so this recording was kind of a test run to see if we could do something that we would be really happy with in the end.”

Bourgon says the group has a wealth of material prepped for their upcoming record and had decided that taking some of that material and releasing it now just made sense.

In addition to supporting their new 7 inch single, the band has also recently released their first video offering, “Disgorge Mexico: The DVD”.

After having worked with various people and labels throughout the years (including having released two albums via Relapse Records), the group’s current independent stance has more to do with the band’s nature than anything else, “We are really picky about the people we work with,” Bourgon admits. “We put a lot of work into what we do to create something that we’re extremely proud of, so to just hand it over to anybody is not an option.”

“At the same time, we’re an extremely small band that’s not going to ‘move units’ the way labels would want or expect. So we realized a long time ago that if we want something done to our expectations, we’re going to have to do it ourselves.”

“It doesn’t mean that we’ve written off labels but at the same token, we have always been a very independent band. It’s the only way we can keep our sanity working within this monstrosity known as the music business.”
