Today it was announced Liam Gallagher and co. have finally chosen a name for their post-Oasis band. Calling themselves Beady Eye, Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock are currently in the studio recording new material. They are working with producer Steve Lillywhite, who has previously worked with U2 and The Pogues.

Before a concert in Paris last summer, guitarist Noel Gallagher walked out on Oasis citing too many problems with his brother Liam. Deciding to continue making music with the other members, Liam announced plans to record new material, but was unsure of a band name until now.

“If we don’t come up with something else by the time we’re ready to release the album it’ll be Oasis,” he said last year. “I’m not going to call myself something ridiculous just for the sake of it.”

A new photo of the band “working on their way of looking at the world” has been posted on the official Oasis website. [Yorkshire Evening Post]
