Track of the Week: Hannah Georgas - Dancefloor

Chances are the name Hannah Georgas is starting to pop up on your radar.  Following successes in radio (CBCr3‘s been a champion) and television licensing (Flashpoint, Heroes, Degrassi), Vancouver-based songwriter Hannah Georgas is moving full steam ahead and just about to release her debut full-length This Is Good.  It should be called This is Great.

Hannah Georgas – Dancefloor

I’ve been through the album and found something for everyone.  Leaning away from the folk sound of her 2009 EP, Hannah touches many styles of pop, new wave, and jittery disco-rock (my favorite track in ‘Dancefloor’ above). Sounding vocally somewhere between Florence and The Machine, Feist and Jenn Grant, Georgas’s sound is poised and polished.  The 11-song album was recorded over two months last spring with co-producers Howard Redekopp (Tegan & Sara, the New Porngraphers) and Ryan Guldemond (Mother Mother) and is out April 27 via Hidden Pony/EMI.
