This morning's new music news; Both the Scottish band The Fratellis and American indie pop band Voxtrox have decided to break up and MGMT's new disc Congratulations scores big in its first week on the Billboard charts.

Scottish band The Fratellis appear to have gone their separate ways, at least for now according to a post by lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli on the band’s website. “We have no plans to work together right now,” he said. “Sometimes things just work out that way. Mince, Baz and I are working on music but not with each other for a while. Your passion is appreciated more than we will ever be able to say, we’ll forever give our hearts and souls to music and to you guys who want to hear what we do.” The band’s last album, Here We Stand, came out in June of 2008. In related band breakup news, indie pop band Voxtrot  have also pulled the plug for any future recordings and will say farewell with a tour next month called “Goodbye, Cruel World.” Frontman Ramesh Srivastava posted a letter on the band’s website saying, “The career path of Voxtrot was truly one of long, simmering build, explosion, and almost instantaneous decay. Slowly, I am learning to replace any feelings of regret with positive memories of how amazing the whole thing was, and how it has, in an unexpected way, fortified my character.” Voxtrot released one self titled studio album and several EP’s. One of which contained the track “The Start of Something.” [Pitchfork]

In happier band news, MGMT’s latest disc Congratulations hit the No. 2 slot on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week. The album has sold 66,000 copies in its first week, a career best, while their debut Oracular Spectacular didn’t sell more than 17,000 in a week. The band were nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Awards, but lost out to the Zac Brown Band. [Spin]
