This morning in new music news; Los Angeles' Dum Dum Girls plan the release of a limited cassette tape, My Chemical Romance's drummer has quit the band (OMFG!! NOO!!!!), and rapper Guru is recovering from surgery in hospital after a heart attack sent him into a coma.

Before the release of their full length debut I Will Be on March 30, Los Angeles garage punk band Dum Dum Girls will release a cassette tape compiling all the material they’ve made so far called Blissed Out. Only around 400 copies of the 11-track tape will be made, but those who sign up to record label Art Fag’s mailing list will get an email notification of when the cassette is released. The band will stop in Toronto in April to play a show with Girls at the Phoenix. [Pitchfork]

Bob Bryar, the drummer for My Chemical Romance has quit the band. According to the band’s official website, Bryar left the band weeks ago. In a statement guitarist Frank Iero wrote, “This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours, and expect you all to do the same.” A new My Chemical Romance album is expected sometime later this year. [NME]

And in a statement via all Hip Hop, rapper Guru is recovering from surgery after having a heart attack last weekend. The 43-year-old MC was comatose from the heart attack, but doctors successfully operated on Tuesday. Guru’s partner Solar told the site that doctors say he will make a full recovery. He added, “we thank everyone who send prayers our way and we appreciate the outpouring of love from around the world!” [all Hip Hop]
