This morning's music news; Black Lips are at work on their sixth album and Noel Gallagher played his first post Oasis solo gig, playing mostly Oasis tunes.

The Strokes are currently in the studio working on a new album without lead singer Julian Casablancas while he is currently on tour playing old Strokes songs. At a New York city gig this past Wednesday, Casablancas performed songs off his solo debut album, Phrazes for the Young as well as Strokes songs, “Hard to Explain” and a demo version of “You Only Live Once” called “I’ll Try Anything Once.” [Spin]

Black Lips are working on an as yet titled new album, their sixth, and hope to release it sometime late summer early fall. Speaking about the new disc with Billboard, guitarist Ian Saint Pe said, “We do what we do. It’ll sound like a Black Lips record; I can’t say much more than that. It’s got garage stuff, punk stuff, a little of that Atlanta hip-hop. It’s just who we are. I think it sounds good.” [Billboard]

An Noel Gallagher played his first post-Oasis solo gig last night at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer and keyboardist Jay Darlington accompanied Gallagher on stage while he delved into the back catalog with songs “Some Might Say,” “Wonderwall,” and “The Masterplan.” He finished the set with “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” [NME]
