This morning in new music; Charlotte Gainsbourg plans a brief North American tour, Phil Spector appealing, and Japandroids have announced the release of their early EP's.

French singer/actress/extraordinaire Charlotte Gainsboug is hitting the road this April for a two week tour of North America. She will stop in Canada to play four shows in Vancouver, Victoria and Montreal. Last year Gainsbourg released her latest disc, IRM, with most of the songs written and produced by Beck. [Pitchfork]

Phil Spector’s lawyers are appealing the producer’s 2009 murder conviction saying he didn’t receive a fair trial. Spector was sentenced to 19 years to life last May for shooting actress Lana Clarkson at his California mansion in 2003. His attorney claims prosecutors improperly used testimony from five women who said Spector threatened them with guns in the past. Spector’s legal team are hoping the conviction is overturned and he be given a new trial. [AP]

And Japandroids have announced a release date for their first two out-of-print EP’s. The two five song recordings entitled Lullaby Death Jams and All Lies, will be packaged together and titled No Singles. The package will contain a vinyl and 32-page booklet and will be released on May 11. [Exclaim!]
