Last night AUX headed to the Horseshoe amongst other venues, for the second night of Canadian Music Fest. Bands on the bill included all female rock trio Magneta Lane, Ottawa ensemble Amos the Transparent, Guelph’s electro punk band Green Go, Hollerado, The Besnard Lakes and Toronto’s Great Bloomers and Arietta.

Performance of the evening undeniably goes to the Besnard Lakes who, although played a much softer set from the other acts, had the crowd silent in anticipation after every song. Their performance of the track “For Agent 13” off their second album The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse was incredibly moving and cathartic. The band also featured songs off their new album The Besnard Lakes are the Roaring Night released this past week.

Runner up set goes to Amos the Transparent. The six piece band turned into a 12 piece as they invited several members from the audience on stage to sing back up. The band have released two albums including their new EP titled My, What Big Teeth You Have… and will be coming back to Toronto next month to play at Lee’s Palace.

The two second runner up spots go to Magneta Lane who played a ripping set of tracks off their latest, Gambling with God and Green Go with their blend of upbeat disco punk that had the floor shaking. The band are awaiting the release of a remix album that features Diamond Rings and Woodhands.
