For their upcoming spring tour starting early next month, Hamilton’s Arkells will be playing the majority of their shows with Metric. Both bands are supporting their latest albums, Fantasies for Metric and Jackson Square for Arkells. But on the last show of their tour, the steel city band will be playing alongside a band that has recently been in the news stemming from a coffee overdose, Them Crooked Vultures.
On May 15, Arkells will open for Them Crooked Vultures at the Air Canada Centre. The latter band will be touring new material they hope to record by the end of the summer. In an interview with Stuff, bassist John Paul Jones talked about plans to record the follow up to their self titled debut released last year. “We’re all hard workers,” he said. “In a way we need to do this, for ourselves. Once we committed to it we worked as hard as a young band would, put the hours in. It’s got to be good – we’ve got reputations to uphold more than anything else.”
