This mornings new music news roundup; Hot off their Grammy win, Phoenix are scoring Sofia Coppola's new film, new details on MGMT's forthcoming sophomore effort and The White Stripes declare war on the US Air Force (Reserve).

Phoenix are working on the score/soundtrack for Sofia Coppola’s next film, Somewhere. Some of Coppola’s past works have included amazing soundtracks such as The Virgin Suicides and Lost In Translation. Speaking about the project, Phoenix lead singer Thomas Mars said, “It’s very minimal. It’s almost like sound design. It wasn’t like writing songs, it was more about trying to make a sound that fits with a Ferrari and the city of Los Angeles’ theme. It was more of an engineer work than a composer.” [Prefix]

New details have been released about the forthcoming MGMT album, Congratulations. Produced by Spacemen 3’s Peter ‘Sonic Boom’ Kember, the album drops on April 13. The band will kick off a tour in support of the album at this year’s Coachella Music Festival. [Pitchfork]

And The White Stripes plan on taking “strong action” against the Air Force Reserve after they aired a recruitment commercial during the Superbowl featuring the song “Fell In Love With A Girl.” In an official statement, the band and their management said “We believe our song was re-recorded and used without permission of the White Stripes, our publishers, label or management.” [Rolling Stone]
