Warpaint Charging into 2010

Even though I recall seeing this band’s name in 2009, I’m going to consider them to be my first band to watch of 2010. LA’s Warpaint paint are all about dreamy, hypnotic vocals, driving rhythms and weaving guitars through psychedelic soundscapes. Recently signed to Rough Trade and currently in the studio with Tom Biller (Beck, Karen O, Liars), a February tour with Akron/Family and Yeasayer (tourdates below), the band have hit the new year running.
They recently debuted their video of the darkish ‘Elephants’; shot sped up and slowed down in post to give a real dramatic effect. I wonder who invented that trick? Works for me. Makes what might seem dull seem more interesting.
Also a big fan of that robotic vocal effect partway into the 2nd verse.
