This Morning In New Music - Sheezer edition. The CBC interviews Hannah Georgas, the BBC make a questionable music list, 50 Cent is more embarrassing than your parents, These New Puritans unleash a wicked new video and Rivers Cuomo is going to be alright.

Rivers Cuomo  broke 3 ribs in a bus crash, which reportedly could have been a lot worse, not long after leaving a  gig at Toronto’s ACC. Weezer’s December dates have been canceled while Cuomo undergoes a few more tests.  Perhaps newly formed Sheezer would be a good replacement for Weezer’s missed dates. But seriously, get well soon team Weezer. [CNN]

Hannah Georgas will be visiting the Wrath of Khanna to answer questions about her song You’ve Got a Place Called Home appearing in a Walmart commercial.  Walmart commercial or not, it’s a beautiful song.  46 comments on the r3 blog later, it’s clear this is a hot button issue.  Not sure how to feel about it? Go watch the recent R3TV episode about touring as an indie musician in Canada – it ain’t easy out there.  We don’t play the ‘they sold out game’ here at the new music guide – if you want our marketing coordinator Nic (@Spaghetti_Holes) to appear in your Walmart commercial, we can arrange that.  [cbcradio3]

The BBC has announced their Sound of 2010 long-list.  Artists include The Drums (yay!) and The Postal Service Owl City (actually?). [bbc]

In a painfully transparent and misguided attempt at relevance, 50 Cent has reached out to Susan Boyle for collaboration.  Awkward silence.  [NME]

These New Puritans have released their music video for We Want War [These New Puritans]
