Playing the first of three sold out 10th anniversary shows at Lee’s Palace, The Constantines took the stage in front of the number ten scrawled out in big white scratch marks – the kind you’d see in a prison cell.  A bleak metaphor of just how far the band has come and presumable what they’ve been through to get there.  There being a sold out must-attend tour to celebrate a career in Canadian indie music.  The nostalgia was palpable in the thick air of Lee’s.  When Bryan Webb described himself and his wife coming to tears while watching openers Attack In Black moments before taking the stage with the Cons, it was clear this was going to be a remarkable evening.  Twitter was on fire with chatter leading up the event, furthering the allure of the first of these Lee’s Palace shows. The southern Ontario schedule finds The Constantines traveling to The Starlight Room in Waterloo tomorrow night, Call The Office in London on the 18th and then back to Toronto for the final Lee’s Palace show on Saturday the 19’th.
