AUX TV’s newest correspondent Nardwuar met up with Jackson Rathbone and his band 100 Monkeys while they were in Vancouver playing shows and recording some new songs.  According to Nardwuar, Rathbone’s fellow twilight star Robert Pattinson was forced to pee in a cup during a 100 Monkeys show at the Rio Theater in Vancouver.  The story is that Pattinson had to pee in the closest thing available because mobbing twilight fans had blocked access to the washroom.  It’s a believable story when you consider Pattinson’s well-known uneasiness around screaming twilight fans.  Nardwuar quizes Rathbone, “Why did he have to piss in a cup?”, Rathbone responds, “Sometimes pissing in a bottle is difficult.” 

100 Monkeys released their first studio album Grape on November 28^th and they’re planning to continue touring, having just finished a couple of shows in their hometown of Los Angeles. Grape features music by Spencer Bell and a guest appearance by Shawn Fernando of The Stevedores.

Nardwuar surprises Rathbone with special messages from Daniel Johnston and Islands’ Nick Thorburn .  Johnston, who is a major 100 Monkeys influence asks the band if they’ll cover one of his songs so they can all get rich.  In perhaps the best moment of the interview, Nardwuar asks Rathbone what Kristen Stewart tastes like, prompting Rathbone to call out of bounds and Nardwuar to quickly change the subject – after all, this is about their music.
