Devin Townsend turns a heavy metal circle pit into a giant group hug

If you’re not a metalhead, Devin Townsend can be a bit hard to explain. A hyper-talented guitarist and singer, his discography runs an interesting gamut: vocals for shredder Steve Vai, gut-punchingly aggressive cyber-thrash with Strapping Young Lad; sprawling ambient solo works and concept albums about cheeseburgers and coffee-addicted aliens. He’s busy. But he’s also one of a kind.
Take his recent performance at infamous metal super-festival Wacken Open Air, where he halted a heavy as a heavy thing circle pit to make the crowd… hug.
Never change, Devin. [h/t Imgur]
